FAQ

Common Questions

Where can I see the work in person?

The originals and editions are shown through a network of partner galleries across the US. Each gallery carries its own selection of inventory — including framed pieces and works not available anywhere else. Use the contact form to ask about galleries in your area, or browse the current online selection here.

What's the difference between the editions?

There are three tiers. Legacy Editions are high-resolution archival reproductions on canvas, finished with acrylic gel medium to recreate the brushstroke texture of the original. Hand Embellished Editions go further — each one gets individual work with paint applied by hand in the studio, so no two are identical.

Unique Artist and Studio Proofs are the top tier: same size as the original painting, with glazes, palette knife work, and actual pigmented paint applied to bring out a luminosity you can't get from printing alone. Only 7 to 12 exist per image, and Gabe works each one personally.

Can I buy directly from you or through a gallery?

Both. A selection of editions is available to purchase directly through this site. For originals, the best path is usually through a gallery partner — they carry inventory and can walk you through what's available. If you're not sure where to start, use the contact form and we'll point you in the right direction.

Do you ship internationally?

Editions ship rolled from the studio, ready for stretching and framing at your local framer. US and international shipping is available. Originals are handled on a case-by-case basis depending on size and destination — reach out through the contact form.

What are the paintings made of?

Oil on canvas. The work combines detailed figurative passages with palette knife work in the backgrounds — a technique that's evolved over nearly two decades, with more emphasis now on working from direct observation and field studies. Each painting starts as a sketchbook idea and gets worked through until it feels right, not until it looks finished.

I own a Gabe Leonard piece — can I register it?

Yes. The studio keeps provenance records for the body of work, and collectors are welcome to register their pieces. It's useful if you ever want to document the work, verify authenticity, or explore resale options down the road. Reach out through the contact form with the title and any details you have.
